Our ideology here at Upcycle, is based on a fact, that there is a serious threat to us and our coming generations because of the environmental damaged caused by the waste generated in our society. The increased consumption and depletion of natural resources has caused a huge strain on our planet. Plastic is everywhere. It is all around us and does not just disappear. It is not only occupying space in the environment but also affecting the flora and fauna of our land and water.
At Upcycle our endeavour is to provide alternatives to single use plastic and thus encourage and foster a change in consumer behaviour. By way of these small changes, we aim to create an impact on conserving our natural resources and reducing our carbon footprint. This is why our tag line is “Let’s Transform”.
The key stake holders in our business are Women in rural India, Corporate clients who are committed to the sustainable movement, Organic farms & stores and Retailer consumers who are adopting a sustainable lifestyle. To be successful in the long run it is important to create value for our stakeholders. In the current times, where we are facing challenges like a pandemic, economic downturn and climate change, there is a need to provide a solution that will meet the needs of all stakeholders and address societies challenges.
Our long-term ambitions are to provide employment opportunities to women in rural India by enabling them to take care of their families. Also, encourage corporate clients who want to move towards sustainability by helping them understand how their actions have an impact on the environment. To provide the organic farms and stores with good quality and low waste solutions, together creating a sustainable environment. And for the Retail consumers who are making a shift towards a sustainable lifestyle we want to provide them with incentives and encourage them to make a shift by offering discounts and promotions whenever we can.
We keep all our products as simple as possible, no packaging and no plastic at all.
The cloth used for making our bags is Markin cloth also known as Manjarpath cloth. It is 100% unbleached Cotton Grey Cloth. This cloth is sourced from the biggest cotton hub in India, Jalgoan, Maharashtra. The produce bags you see are made by low income group women, who support their households with the wages they earn making the bags.
Upcycle finds pride in collaborating with social causes. The compartment bags that Upcycle offers you are produced by the students of SVRR school in Mumbai. This is a non-profit, non-commercial organisation dedicated to the rehabilitation and welfare of the mentally challenged persons. These bags are made by students with guidance and support of their lovely teachers.
When we go sustainable, we are also making a difference in the upliftment of these wonderful beings
